![]() RULES DRAMA RP drama is inevitable. However, this doesn't mean disputes can't be handled civilly between players. If players are unable to end a dispute between themselves, they should contact the moderator at modsofthenexus@gmail.com. Individuals that start drama will only be given one warning before being dismissed from the game on the second offence. The same is true of those who are found to be participating in and/or encouraging drama. What drama is can be debatable, but, if we believe you are crossing the line, we will tell you and you will be given a warning to fix up your actions. If you do not fix up your behaviour, you will be asked to leave. People are not meant to take this personality, but to realise that as mods it is our job to ensure the game is a place where everyone can feel comfortable. OOC/MARY SUES Players need to be sure they have a firm idea of their character's personality and the game's premise before applying. Players are expected to stick to how they outline their characters personality in their application. If not, they may receive a nudge from the mods or, for repeat offenders, removal. In a similar fashion, Mary and Gary Sues (characters who are perfect) are not allowed, though, often, they will be detected in the application process. GODMODDING Godmodding in any form is not permitted. It is defined as dictating the actions of another player's character, including saying how someone else's character will react or placing a character in a particular position without permission. If in doubt, just check with the player or mods beforehand. Again, if a player continues to break this rule it could result in them being removed. SPELLING/GRAMMAR Both spelling and grammar are important, so looking over your post before hitting submit never hurts. If you use Firefox, there should be an on-line spell-checker already installed on your browser. With this, your browser will point out misspelled words as you type, à la Microsoft Word. This should successfully prevent a majority of spelling issues. CHARACTER LIMIT Players are currently only allowed 5 characters max (although this number is subject to change). Additionally, players cannot play two characters that would interact regularly. Players seeking additional characters must be active with all of their characters before hand and prove they can maintain their activity. They must wait one week for number 3 and two more weeks for number 4. ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS An activity check will be performed every fortnight. To pass, you must have posted at least one character journal and participated in at least one thread, per character. However, if you wish to apply for more characters, you must have also commented on at least one other character journal, per character. Grades are as follows. O - at least one RPG thread, at least one character journal entry AND at lease one comment thread on another characters journal. A - at least one RPG thread AND at least one character journal or equivalent[1] Failing Grades P - one RPG thread OR one character journal T - no activity Strikes will be issued to characters that do not complete journal threads, or abandon RPG threads before a natural conclusion has occurred. If you and your RPG partner find that the thread is taking too long to complete, please discuss it between yourselves and post a summary of what occurred, so that those following are not left wondering. If you receive three strikes for any character, it will be an automatic warning. Unlike past games, warnings will not automatically be void if you make up your character requirement. Only when you have passed the next activity check with warnings be voided. For example, if character A receives a warning for not completing required activity during Period One, then fails to make required activity during Period Two, they will be issued with a second warning. However, if the character makes up the required activity for Period One, then passes required activity for Period Two, the warning shall be voided. In the event of an emergency hiatus being needed, we will overlook these rules. Activity checks will occur every two weeks. Players who have not met activity will be given a warning. They will have 4 days to fix up activity or they will be removed. If they are given a warning 2 checks in a row they may be removed. Moreover, it should be noted that only doing the bare minimum may result in warnings. To help you make all activity requirements, we will be including an interim report, or a half-way check, to let you know which characters are passing and which need more attention. These will in no way effect your required activity requirements, they are merely a guide to aid you. [1] Two or more RPG threads during any activity period will be an automatic A grade. We will also be looking at how often your character comments on other people's journals. If they comment on two or more journals, and the conversation is considered complete, we will also allow this to be an A for journal activity. HIATUSES Hiatuses are allowed for up to one week. A hiatus lasting for more than a week (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made. SHIPPING Slash, het, and femmeslash are all permitted. However, there should be no tilt towards any particular orientation. Keep in mind if your character is anything other than heterosexual that they should be played as the setting requires. Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game. PBS PBs should be as close to canon as possible, although minor details (such as eye color) can be overlooked. Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character. Try here for a complete list of icon makers and tips for uploading multiple icons quickly or transferring icons to a new account. PLOT Plots should be created with the pervasive storyline in mind and the RPG should not be used solely for any one purpose (shipping, for example). Major plots (death, rape, and pregnancy) should be run by the mod. DARK THEMES/ALLOWABLE PLOTS Players should be aware that there is the possibility of dark themes, violence, incest, etc being in game. However, these must be written properly and reasonably and will be monitored by the mods. Though, we will not allow any sexual activity for any character under the age of 16. JOURNALS Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone unless stated otherwise. [Private to Recipient's Name Here] Text here. [/Private] It should always be assumed, unless stated otherwise, that if a private is not addressed to your character (s)he cannot "break into" the other characters' journal. Make sure to clarify the recipient(s) of a private addressed to certain characters. Saying something like "close friends" is too vague. Instead, list the names of those the private is addressed to. Established character groups (such as those on the character list), however, are acceptable. [Private to Recipient's Name Here] Text here. [/Private] THREADS Thread headings should be formatted as follows or in a similar fashion: Characters: [Who's involved this scene.] Setting: [Where and when (morning, evening, between what events of the day) the scene is occurring.] Content: [For simplicity's sake, you can just use 'No Adult Content'/Worksafe or 'Adult Content'/Not Work Safe. Adult Content is, of course, graphic sex or violence. State which (graphic sex or violence) applies to a post labeled with Adult Content.] Summary: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, and etc.] FRIEND LOCKED/PUBLIC In the interest of making the game as public and as accesible as possible all journals, threads and applications must be public and not friend locked. Exceptions can be made for higher rated threads and/or journals. Taken Wanted Application The Worlds |
